Did a search and couldn't find the right answer. Is there a special tool to remove the dial that screws the U Step in? It looks like a hex wrench will go into the middle of the dial but I don't know if it's a special tool or do I just need to buy a huge hex wrench. If so, what size is it?

?? The 'dial' (large knurl knob) unscrew by hand, all the way till they come off.

Did you sell em yet? I'd be interested in 2 pcs only...

They've been on for over a year and they're stuck on tight. I can't get my hands in a position to get a better grip either.

I think Hummer anticipated this, thus the hex. I can't find anything else that would give me leverage. Also, I need to sell all four.

You need a hex wrench and some wd40 to get them off. BIG-C

kacyk 09-17-2004 11:09 PM

I thought so, do you know what size hex wrench Big C?

intimidator 09-18-2004 12:23 AM

This is the hex wrench that comes with the H2 for the removal of the U-steps.

You'll find it in the glove box. I keep mine in the little compartment on the left along with a few other things to keep the noise down.

Thanks guys, they are off. The boys at Schuck Auto Supply let me borrow the tool and a little WD40 went a long way.

kacyk 09-19-2004 02:17 PM

Gee DRTY, I thought I'd see a greater variety of interesting things in your glove box...

DRTYFN 09-19-2004 02:29 PM

I took the good things out for the picture.

I would like to buy a set or two of these if you still have them.

I would like just 2 of them also if the price is right.

DRTYFN 09-19-2004 10:26 PM

Uhm... guys... you get one of them when you buy your H2. If you didn't get it tell your dealership to give you one.

kacyk 09-19-2004 10:43 PM

They're on Ebay for $85.00

What's on Ebay for $85? Better not be one of those wrenches.

kacyk 09-20-2004 03:17 AM

God no, just my 4 U Steps.
