I have been "conceptualizing" on a over the hood brushguard like the one shown. The problem I keep running into is "that any top impact and that thing will go straight into the hood and dent it" without some type of support.

You can get around this issue if you were to attach the brushguard to the hood handles however, the problem with this is that I don't know if that area would be able to withstand a high front/top impact or if the area would just cave in.

If this area wouldn't support this then you need to figure out a way to reinforce the hood handles and hood vent area that would then allow you to "lock" the top of the brushguard to the hood handles yet still support an impact without just caving in.

Thanks.

You could not be more correct with what you said above. I am not into product bashing and I debated on not even writing this for fear that it would look like that's what I was doing. But I felt it worthy of saying to my fellow H2 enthusiasts that if you are looking for something that is as heavy duty and rugged as this thing looks you don't want to get this one. Take a look at the way, and location that it is mounted. I have not put my hands on one of these but I have the SMA HD. which appears to be mounted better than the "over the hood" ones, and I would not trust my hood to that mounting set up. I manufacture very heavy duty equipment and have been toying with developing something similar to this, and even with the very sturdy design that my grill guard uses, I have the same concerns mentioned by HUMMERDOGG. Now I am a firm believer that if there is a will there is a way so I know that it can and will eventually be done correctly. But just at a glance I would be cautious of the way this over the hood guard is mounted and potential problems that may come with it.

Best of Luck
