The owner's manual states:
"Use only engine oil identified as meeting GM Standard GM6094M and showing the American Petroleum Institute Certified For Gasoline Engines starburst symbol."

Mobil 1 meets and exceeds GM6409M, since it also meets GM spec GM4718M. GM4718M is a higher spec for oil and the spec required for oil usage in LS1, LS2, LS6 and LS7 Corvette engines, as well as the Northstar Supercharged engine used in the STS-V.
These are all aluminum engines with aluminum heads.
Since I have only used Mobil 1, I can't speak for Valvoline, Pennzoil, etc.; however, I would bet they also meet and exceed the oil spec for the I-5 engine with their synthetic oils.
