I agree with XM. I was settled on a Wrangler Unlimited until I drove the H3. The H3 blew it away; similar or better offroad ability, far better road manners, immensely more practical, much safer, a lot more comfortable...and killer looks.
The venerable Jeep TJ may be tough, but its badly badly outdated and really overpriced. A lot of Jeep buyers are surprised when they learn their 4WD is, except in deep snow, mostly unusable on pavement. I was fairly shocked when I learned what basic compromises I'd have to swallow with a Wrangler..no ABS, hazardous gas tank location, no cargo capacity, truly cheesy and spartan amenities...this with a $25K+ MSRP; over $30K for a Rubicon!
Since SUVs became mostly heavy expensive grocery-getters, Jeep's pretty much had a lock on the serious offroad user. H3 is going to change that; its the updated Cherokee that D-C wouldn't build.
