I saw today on the local news that the average American is in debt 300,000. Is this really what the world is coming to living pay check to pay check? Right now I only have my mortage. Everything else is payed in full. Just hard to believe 300,000 on average for most. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

What would be more interesting (and realistic) is to know how much debt folks have WITHOUT their home loans. Credit cards, cars, misc stuff like that. School loans? Ugggh.

I've read a couple articles on student loans are crushing some graduates since they did both undergrad and grad school all on loans. Now they get out and guess what? They have to pay those loans BACK! One couple in a business week article had like 140K in student loans, and neither were doctors or harvard MBA's.....Ouch!
