You locate each guard with the existing screw then use it as it template for drilling the new holes. I only used the screws at the edge, not the push-lock. I don't think it adds much if any strength. If the guards start to move, I'll add the push-locks. Remember, you're only drilling into the plastic wheel flares so its very easy. Be careful not to use too big a drill bit so the screws will have good bite in the plastic.
