Considering every laptop or for that matter work station manufactured today uses the same components manufactured by a small handful of companies, most from China or Pakistan where is your statement about Alienware's computers coming from? Have you pratical experience with them?

I have to second Alec's statement. Most people don't use a laptop in extreme conditions. The ones that do I suspect are simply fools. There is always a car, truck, shack, tent, something or someplace to get out of the elements and most likely said place has or will have either battery or a generator for a power source. So ANY laptop would be useable out in the field.

I wouldn't discount these laptops durability so quickly..

We have a few itronix Xplore tabletPC's and they are far and away the most durable computers we use in the field. Makes a panasonic toughbook look like a paper mache computer..

Water tight, plexi screens, magnesium casings.

We use them in extreme cold, extreme hot, and everything in between.

An alienware laptop would crap out in less than half the severe environments we put the itronix tablet's through. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
