Wow. There is definitely a neurological principle here that explains how our brains make some pretty amazing connections transforming every day typed symbols into what are actually complex three dimensional anatomical parts. I'm sure it involves centers of libido and language processing. Do you think that those symbols would be recognized universally i.e. by someone who does not type or know English symbols (say, an Eskimo or a Peruvian Indian)?
