That's a good idea. Let's get that rollin. Of course we could wrap it all up around the guise of Hurricane awareness but the main deal is to make some coin off of these things. 
Seriously, there is no central organized private effort for awareness. Get some big sponsors so that you can buy TV spots when a 'cane is coming.
Get someone to run around the Home Depots and "hot brand" all the wood with the current Hurricane name and the organization.
Maybe sell some Hurricane Tape.
