Default Re: Avic-z1 in H3...any help would be appreciated

Just had the z1 installed this weekend, with xm-navtraffic, bluetooth, rear camera and ipod adapter.

First head to avic411.com, a plethora of info on the unit.

Got the peripheral gm onstar with bose- interface (if you have the monsoon). i think it is gm24hb or something like that. i also got the chime module that goes with that unit. This combination works flawlessly.

I got the scosche 1595b dash head unit. fits the h3 good but not the z1. The top bezel of the head unit is a little too large and does not allow the unit to close properly when opened to insert a disc. I need to shave of some of the top bezel to give it more room.

You need a antenna adapter for fm and am.

The installation of the xm, bluetooth, ipod and camera is pretty straight foward.

The z1 is an awesome unit, when you learn all the functions...far superior than the stock unit. Sounds great and navigates incredibly well.
Do hook up the vss wire-improves accuracy on the nav.

Also do get the ducatiboy mod that allows you to bypass the in drive security and allows you to unlock some nav functions and dvd playing while driving. You will find the relay from ducatiboy on avic411.com under mods.

Hope this helps.
