Arthur was the classiest guy on the tour or in the stands, without regard to race. He was a fellow of great moral authority and he elevated everybody around him. I think the reason the venue is named after him is more of a tribute to his character than to his outstanding tennis career.
Race was never on his agenda, and consequently, it couldn't be on anyone else's. He forced people to be color blind.
