Being an H2 owner, driving an H3 to me clearly feels like a downgrade. Now don't get all fruity because I said that but there is a reason why the H3 is cheap.
We checked out 3 rigs. Jeep Unlimited, FJ, H3. I would love nothing more than to have another H in my garage. The H2 and H1 is too much rig for my wife as she claims. And it came down to quality, reliability, and surprisingly.....looks. Let me quickly explain;
Quality: FJ hands down. It's a Toyota. Unlike the H2, GM really cheapened out on the H3 IMO. (Quality? I say is not that high on the two FJs I looked at. As for cheapness, the interior, in my opinion, looked cheaper in the FJ. But this is all subjective. )
Reliability: See above. (Time will tell on this one. As time goes on, there may be some areas that pop out as being not as reliable. Off-road it like some of the H3s and see what happens.)
Looks: It's still a unique looking rig. The H3 looks like an H2 but cheaper. And that's the hard truth. Not interested in a lesser rig that looks or tries to be like an H2 sitting next to mine. (Agreed, it is unique.)
The power is a big thing. H3 sports one of the weakest engines around. And it's suppose to be a Hummer. (I drove one, and compared to the 3.7L in the newer H3s, I didn't notice that much in city traffic. For power, the 2008 will exceed it, unless Toyota comes out with a bigger engine.)
As an H2 owner, I think it's an honest and very qualified assesment.
FJ>Wrangler>H3 (My assessment would be H3/Wrangler > FJ. I do have to admit, I like the new Wrangler and the 4-door design, in the right color (RED), is growing on me again. The FJ is unique and I kind of like it, but that interior I could never live with. Again, my opinion, and I respect yours.)
But that's just my opinion.
