Like Ken said, the set is 720p, not 1080p. This really only matters if you are a hardcore HD person and want the newest, latest and greatest or have a PS3, HD DVD player or Blu-Ray (otherwise you don't need 1080p.) No one is broadcasting 1080p, we don't have enough bandwidth, and the TV will downconvert 1080i (NBC, CBS, HDNet, CW) to 720p (ABC, FOX, ESPN) for display, but you will not notice it. If you just want a nice HD set, this will do the job for you.
This set is the 55" version of the set I have been looking at putting in my office for gaming. I think the set has a great picture. I also liked the pricing on it from Circuit City.
