My kids grew up with a flouride rinse and their teeth are fine.

Sorry I call BS, you can find a pro and con for everything. Yes, too much flouride is bad for your teeth, they become discolored but are normally very strong. Kids that are about 25 years and younger have ALOT less cavities than the same age group 50 years ago. Plus flouride does not help your teeth when ingested unless your teeth are forming. Topical flouride like in toothpaste does help reduce the number of caries because it acts like an antimicrobial. If you have a weak spot on your tooth, an area that is "almost" a cavity, flouride can help make that area harder and protect it against the bacteria, ie: sugar, that tries to break down your tooth every second of the day. That is why there is flouride in your toothpaste. Flouride in moderation, I can't remember the parts per million, is very good for you. Not only your teeth but it also helps your bones. How old are you, flouridated water has not been around very long. I'm 34 and I remember doing flouride rinses in school, because we did not have flouride in the water and I lived in the Kansas City area. Sorry about the rant but I've done my share of research on the subject.
