Well, from what I could find, the Alpha drivers that are getting only 12mpg are flogging the crap out of their rigs, driving 80mph. I can tell you that with my Duramax, driving 70-75 I got around 17mpg. On freeway trips where I took it easy at 60-65mph, I got just shy of 22mpg! How you drive it makes a huge difference. Again, a dmax pulling a big assed 5th wheel gets 12mpg.
