I dont think it would happen where I live so why should it happen anywhere in US. 
 My idiot brother in law 23 years old acts like 12.
Got into a motorcycle crash with his buddy rear ending him,Both of them had no insurance(for bike and health).
They tried to pin his toe back on and stayed 3 days in hospital.
It didnt take so they removed his middle toe 2 weeks later knowing he didnt have insurance it was 2 more days in hospital.
A few weeks pass and he gets a bill for $40,000+
He has no job ( Looser ) And isnt going to pay anytime soon.
I guess he will straighten out eventually and have to pay if he ever wants good credit and gets a life.
