I don't understand why anyone would pay 2000$ on ebay for one. The apple stores have them, plenty. I got on the line at the soho apple store at 5:00 pm friday (my girlfriend had been holding a spot for me from 3:30), doors opened at 6. I had my phone by 6:45. When I got out of the store there were only about 20 more people on the line to get in. There is no shortage for the moment. I was at the store yesterday and they still had them, and I'm sure you could get them online as well from apple. Anyone who got on line for even 1 day overnight is a total dufus.
I have never had a smartphone before, and because I found most features on other phones akward or even impossible to figure out I have never used them other than for texting and phone calls. This phone changes all that I was using every feature on this phone within an hour of activating it. It is so intuitive. The screen is amazing , brightness and image resolution. love the way you use the web browser by using your fingers on the screen. its in credibly fast on wifi and as someone who has nothing other than an actual dsl connection on the laptop to compare with, I did't think the edge net speed was all that bad either. The forum pages come up relatively quickly on it.
So far I can't criticize ATT for the service, but there part in the whole roll out is just short of abombinable. I originaly went to an ATT store near work Friday morning and signed up for a 2yr contract and got a150$ phone for 29$. Since I had to pay for the full iphone and it has no insurance plan I figured the almost free phone was an insurance plan of other sorts. I also enjoyed the fact that I conceived of a way to get one over on ATT. As I was leaving the store the manager said he was going to tell the crowd outside that they were only selling to new customers. As I had just become an ATT customer, it appeared that my plans to get an iphone were now seriously f'kd. Fortunately Nina voluntered to head over to the apple store right away to hold a place till I could get there. As I walked out of an ATT store I told them that it seemed like a really crappy way to treat there existing customers. The other screw up they made affected a friend of mine who also got the phone. She tried to activate her phone at noon on Saturday and wound up waiting 10 hours for ATT to activate the phone and she was already a customer as well. They clearly were not ready for this and considering they were hoping to have a mass sign up they should have been.
