Speaking for myself, I drive 4x4 trucks (with mud tires) because I hunt and fish in areas that require "going in the mud." It's also a regional thing...there not much other than mud in the deep south that offers any sort of offroading challenge. You're absolutely right about the 10 minutes of fun and the 3 hours (or more) of cleaning, but on the upside, I don't have a frame that looks like an IED exploded under my truck, like a lot of you rock lunatics have.
