Best guess, just what desert dan said, the abs system runs self diagnostics which are quite audible(apparently) have not heard it myself. Also not sure if they will run in a key off situation. It may well be some sort of diagnostics thingy. There is a module next to the MC where the sound is coming from. But it takes a while after the hood is up before ut starts clicking.
Pop your hood and wait a few min..it should start. Their are no codes shown either on the dash or on my after market "Scan Gauge" mounted on my steering column.
No big deal..just wondered WTF it's doing.... "I Robot"
