A few thoughts...
Yes, you will get worse gas mileage with 37's.
Installing 37's when the stock tires actually measure 33" tall would be like installing 3.23 gears in place of the 4.11's.
Technically if you were driving at higher rates of speed, you would be effectively lowering your rpms and thus get better gas mileage.
However, driving around town, it takes too much energy to turn the extra tires over and the effectively lower gear ratio will give you worse gas mileage.
Now, add on for heavier tires and the extra momentum/energy to turn them over and yes, you will get worse gas mileage.
I JUST replaced my 38x15.5/20's and got over 45K miles on them. I could easily get another 3-5K miles out of them. Just make sure you rotate them religiously.
