It's my understanding that 15.5's can put more stress on brakes, suspension, and transmission as there is more tire surface touching the ground, equating to more resistance. I have 38X13.5X20's on mine, and they have been great. Also, keep in mind that no matter what tire width you run, the real key to prevent rubbing is the correct offset of the wheels.

When I spoke with a VERY respectable shop here in Orlando, they made it very clear that 40" tall tires were too big for Chevy based trucks without substantial upgrades, and 15" wide tires would put a lot of stress on certain components.
