when installing shocks, you must take into consideration that when the heat builds up, the fluid inside will become frothy. If you have the shocks mounted with the rod facing up, all this foamy fluid is EXACTLY where the piston is at rest, and the initial stroke of the shock will be poor as it passes through this fluid. WHat model bilstein do you have,,is it gas charged etc...This is why when you mount fluid shocks, they must go body up...look into it for a smooth and predictable ride
