NAV is not just for directions. I just traveled up to Cape Cod and needed to locate a Hotel room since all the Hotels I was driving past had NO VACANCY

I clicked on the DVD NAV and searched for Hotels which I sorted by distance from my current location at the time. At least 50 Hotels with phone#'s showed up. I called 10 before I found 1 with vacancy

and was at the Hotel in less than 10 min!
Among lots of other things, it's also awesome to locate any type of restaurant with phone#'s sorted by distance.
For me it's not so much the directions to get from place to place (you can get that from MapQuest), it's more to get to a place of your choice at that moment from where you are
