It depends on the type of snow and the underlying ground.
One of the recent AZHOG trips took us on a Forest Service road that only had about 10 inches of snow with a ton of ice underneath it. It rendered 3 H1's and 1 H2 in what I would call a "seriously stuck" mode. It took winches to get us out.
That's one of the things about snow and water. Sometimes you never know what's under the snow, and other times you never know how deep the water is.
