I had the same problem with my first fuel door.
It also scratched my paint around the area where it makes contact because it does not clamp to the truck but instead the plastic flange which can move around a bit.
I went with the Pro-fit fuel door. It IS pricey but well worth the money. I really think it would have made a nice option offered by Hummer.
I still have the locking door if anyone wants it...satin chrome...$50.00 plus shipping. I got it off E-Bay from Race-and-Street. Had it on for about two weeks tops!
