clear coats?

I'm blacking out a few lights on the h3 and wondering if the clear coat I have is good...

I don't remember what I used to clear my last set of tails I blacked out, but I bought this can over a year ago when I was blacking them out and I'm sure there was a reason I bought this, but I can't remember.

I have VHT Very High Temp Engine Enamel Clear...

The very high temp is a little over kill, but do you think that will work fine? Or any suggestions for a better clear coat for the plastic lights.

I do not remember who it was but there was a thread this summer about someone using a spray to tint his tail lights. Don't have any recommendations on what to search for but you might be able to find it.

Yeah, I saw that before, no mention of clear coat though. Haven't seen a particular name/type of clear coat mentioned on just about all things that have to do with blacking them out...

And why black them out? Up here, you'd want to be seen when driving/braking in fog or snow. Guess when you are adjusting your back brace and poopin out your side from getting rear-ended, you can at least say, "at least it looked cool"! Hey, just razzin ya, to each, his own.

Black them out so they match the car better. It's transparent, they will still emit a red light that can be seen from the required 1000 feet away. I've noticed the h3 has some pretty bright tails already compared to others.

And the vehicles I'd be worried about getting rear-ended by would be able to see whats in front of me and not need to see my tails. All the other vehicles will have to deal with that big ass bumper (spare tire) before getting to me!


And that may be true for alaska, but in florida, I'm gonna say black tails are about 300% safer!
