CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Gang this is a very serious question I would really like to help get answers to. I know there will be multiple suggestions and would not mind a list from all based on 1 being cheapest.
Now the twist I would like to add is that it can be outside of the use say Panama or Caribean islands. I really would prefer it to be some place I can take my H2 and even my travel trailer. I have many family in USA and want to come back regularly. As many know I have and still am fighting illnesses that I gain on but, something else pops up. The medical bills have been and are tearing me a new one. Ins. premium is $800.00 yes you read it right $800 a month. This is a state program because I have been turned down by all other health ins. It is ins. of last resort before medicaid which I have been declared medically disabled led by a friend lawyer. I resist because I want to take care of myself but, this is becoming harder.
Anyway I'm asking or even begging for any info that my forum Buds have or can find out. No guessing just hard financial facts so I can stretch the money I worked to save for retirement my whole life but, the medical world is eating it up like caviar. I know we have some very successful financially knowledgeable people. I use to be better but, my illness's are making it harder and I really have no family or local friends who could help me.
Gang ole TAZ has always tried hard to help the forum and while most of the old hats have gone to where I do not know I have hung on to help. I'm asking to PM me even make suggestions on the forum no problem. I just need some information to make educated decisions.
Thank You so much who have this knowledge or know how to obtain it. I may just have to ride off into the sunset like an old Cowboy. LOL
THANKS ALL!!!!!!!
TAZ

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Hey Taz,
Sorry you have some issues. Try to find a state like Delaware or Montana where there are no state taxes to eat up your income. Many of the old preferred places to go like Florida and California no longer work due to poor managment...
Speak with you health care providers to determine which region will best suite your condition present and future.
Good Luck!

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
I think something else to consider TAZ:
Make sure where you do move to, you will have good helath care close by and that those facilities will not only offer what your illness requires, but that the next state funded insurance will back. I have seen some facilities decline treatments or deffer to a neighboring facility.
As for cheapest, I agree with MT. The cost of living up that way is lower than most, no state taxes, low l.plate renewals, and there are a couple of healthcare providers up there that are decent.

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
I know quite a large amount (relativity speaking) of RETIRED Military consider moving to Costa Rica because the cost of living there is very inexpensive in U.S. Dollars...
not sure about health care there though, if it is nationalized, if you as a U.S. Citizen can use it...etc etc
If I and i'm sure anyone else hears of anything we will let you know...
Please keep us in the loop...shame your not a veteran.....I find the V.A. health system to be good...problems do pop up but they do on the private side also...

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Ducky
I wish I had done what I wanted out of high school and took offer as a warrant officer flying Cobra's. I had a full academic scholarship to college and pressed by family to go that route then got married and after 2 years of college wanted to go on back and fly choppers but, this time wife and her mom cried me out of it. I wanted so bad to serve my country but, in a funny way I sort of did I spent my whole childhood as an Air Force brat. I had a good working knowledge of military and I felt I could excell well in that system where you were reward for smarts, drive, and eni****ive (spelling?) but, you know what I mean. I'm proud though I served my nation as a rice, wheat, and soybean farmer for 32 years but, retirement benefit sucks though.
Thanks for all ideas and hope more will come. Man plan is to travel but, have a home base so MT sounds nice.

WY and SD also have no state tax. SD is pretty inexpensive.

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Considering the need to be close to good medical care but a less expensive cost of living I would suggest Cleveland, or its outlying areas. The Cleveland clinic has an extraordinary reputation but the city is cheap. Morgantown, WV might be another place with reasonable access to Pittsburgh hospitals and a low cost of living. Best of luck to you.

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Taz if cold bothers your condition don't move to MT, WY, SD or ID the winters are brutal and very long. Nevada also dosn't have state taxes and the south half of the state has a more mild winter. Mesquite is a nice small town 1hr NE of Vegas.

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Though I live in NC, I can tell you that South Carolina is not only a beautiful place to live, it's VERY inexpensive.
In general, taxes are cheap, property, insurance, no inspections, etc, etc.
Just a thought.

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
Man thanks so much for all replies keep it up I'm taking notes and researching. Extreme cold does give problems. But, with me being mobile I could be up north in summer and someplace farther south in winter to solve that problem. A snowbird type situation.
Montana holds alot of interest considering I love to hunt and have many guns to haul.
Ken thanks for that cool link. I cannot stay off that thing doing searchs.
Mark SC is a state I have always wanted to visit but, it would be rough being an Arkansas Razorback fan in Gamecock land. It would be close enough we could get together often. I could come and cheer on NC versus about any one they played because I have been a fan of them basketball and football. NC got the Hogs in The Fog Bowl when Holtz coached at UA but, our basketball team got NC here when Jordan was a senior I think. So I have history with NC and like them allot.
Guys do keep in mind cheap is vital, which will be helped with me living in a travel trailer so I can go see family. Most hookups are very reasonable with all utilities included and I have spoke to some RV parks that if you commit 90 days or more you get a huge discount down to like $10 a day plos that normally inclodes cable or sat. with the utilities. I can stay someplace I can stay long enough to establish residence etc. have to find out the state rules on that? Details to work out but, to keep in mind. I like Nevada idea as I have a close friend in Ogden, UTAH that I get to see very little and would blow his mind if I got closer to him.
Great ideas gang keep thinking and brainstorming. I have an investment made 2 years ago hoping it will come through in next few months that could really solve my financial situation. Any that would and do believe in Prayer to God it would be so welcomed.

Re: CHEAPEST PLACE TO LIVE????
It seems to me that with your background for basketball, a request for warm weather and CHEAP, SC is definitely a place you would want to check out.
It is extremely cheap in comparison to other states, the weather is beautiful and the people are nice as hell.
Good luck in your choice...
