My last 5 tanks of gas
MPG
17.96
18.56
19.58
18.99
19.39
Overall average 18.88
OK, you say, what's so special? This is on a vehicle with 106K miles and 35" Cooper STT.
I am trying some driving techniques, and I am solidly converted. Before I started this, average mpg was normally in the 16's occasionally breaking 17 and once broke 18 (all on the 35's) depending on makeup of the miles. Before this I had NEVER broken higher than 18.4 and so far 4 out of 5 tanks have bested this number (the 18.4 was on the factory 33's). I made my first 400 mile tank on on of these fillups, and am averaging about 50-60 more miles out of a tank by doing this. I could have made 400 on at least 3 of the 5 if I had driven further before filling up.
Got anyones attention yet?

Re: My last 5 tanks of gas
I really don't think anyone buys an H3 for the fuel economy. I drove my H3 hard and got around 16 average rural/highway. The new H2 averages in the 12s, but I didn't buy it for the mileage either. Even if I drive it 18,000 miles a year, it's cheaper than a boat or a plane per year, and the Hummer is a lifestyle and hobby to many, whether you're an offroader, around town cruiser, or a blinger, just like boating or golf is to others. The media is throwing the price of gas in our face daily, and YES IT'S MORE MONEY NOW, but so are a lot of things that don't provide nearly as much fun as the Hummer!

Re: My last 5 tanks of gas
I agree! I'm sick and tired about hearing oil prices on TV 24/7. It's gone up, the oil commodities and futures traders are making a fortune at our expense and their is more oil available this 4th in the US than last year and less being used.. go figure.
The Hummer IS A LIFESTYLE and a statement! I rented an H3 on a business trip from Avis and bought one the next week. Now I'm in the H2 and getting close to 13 mpg, but I really don't care, because I have so much fun with it. I filled up the tanks on my boat for the 4th of July weekend - $723, that would run my Hummer for a long time and I get daily pleasure from the Hummer and it's far more reliable than the boat - this hole in the water that I throw money into way too often.
I'm not going to let the traders or the camel drivers change my lifestyle. There is a lot more oil out there than they want us to believe! I'm six foot four and I could never be comfortble in a Yaris or a Fit, much less I could never haul all the "stuff" for the boat in it & I definitely wouldn't look forward to driving one.

same here; I get 12, maybe 13 mpg since I drive short distances around the town and nearby areas, hardly ever freeway. I will never consider getting rid of my H3 for the fuel price reason. If I'll get rid of H3, it will be because I'll go for H2. Screw it. If I had to commute daily long distance, I'd get a 2nd vehicle (regular car, not the ****in POS Prius) with better mileage, and still keep my 3...

Re: My last 5 tanks of gas
Gas Milage...???? ... I don't give a S _ _ T.! I'm driven my rig till the oil's all gone. Keep pump-en that black goo into those tankers baby...I'll burn every drop that's at the pumps.
I only wish I could afford an H1..!! I'd be driven that sucker 30 feet to my mail box every day and more.
Keep Pump-en Baby
