2 wheel drive conversion????
Has anyone figured out how to convert to 2 wheel drive without a transfer case/ tranny swap? I have a 4" rancho lift with 40's on my '05 H2 SUV and when I get on the gas from a stop the front end wants to wander a little more than I'd like. Also thinking I'd save a little money on gas without having to turn the front tires. What do you guys think? Thanks- Jacob

Re: 2 wheel drive conversion????
you can pull the front drive shaft, its been done before but it doesnt really help the mpg anything serious. Everyone here is pretty passionate about off roading and the heritage of hummer, so dont expect too much help in the world of otherwise. If your steering wanders on take off there are other measures that can be taken to fix other than dissconnect the front wheel drive. For instance you could get pitman and idler supports from trailduty.com (Great People) or you can upgrade the steering stabilizer. Rancho makes a kit. Your Steering stabilizer could also be shot due to the 40's, look for oil leaking around seals. Or this could just be the price you have to pay for having 40's.
Good Luck

Re: 2 wheel drive conversion????
Options for saving on MPG's
Remove all interior seats, trim and spare tire. Remove front skid plate, side steps and the engine.
Or you could just not drive it
Or just save yourself from filling up all the time and sell that H2 and buy a Hybrid or Smart car...I hear they get great gas mpg's

Re: 2 wheel drive conversion????
Do what 8500 suggested:
Replace worn pitman/idler arms and add Cognito Pitman/Idler support kit. Also if you stil have factory steering stabilizer, the Rancho one will help a little bit.
