Hi
Did anyone have problems with their windshield wipers locking up in the up position during
the snow storm couple days ago? I cleared
out the snow from the wipers, but still no
go! Then a few minutes later it just started
up again! Is this normal or a defect???

There's a thread or two on this topic. Thursday night on my way home in a snow storm I noticed that the wipers would "pop up" about an inch from resting position and then complete the wipe. But it didn't do it all the time. It sounds like it's becoming a common problem so I'm sure it's a matter of time before GM addresses the issue.

ASJ, my wipers did the same thing twice.

Alec W, that would be ditto for the H3. At least on mine that's the case.

ASJ, my wipers did the same thing twice.Fstop said that there is a overheating sensor that causes this,so it wont burn out. They also shouldnt have made such a deep area around wiper arm that collects alot of snow and ice. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Not an overheating sensor. If the blades stick, the BCM will shut down the motor for a second to cool it down and that answer was to one problem. If there is this big of a problem, then there is more to it then a stuck blade. Sounds like there might be a problem, but I have not heard anything until this forum.

My wipers were also behaving strangely during our last snow storm here in Denver. Sometimes they would pause for sec and sometimes they would skip a wipe. Weird. Also they seemed to easily fill up with ice. Anyone know if winter blades are available?

Yes, they are available, yes they are hard to find; at least in this area.
The specs from GM are: 15.7 for the passenger side, 16.7 for the driver side. The only company that seems to sell odd-sized winter blades is Trico. Therefore, I ordered 16 and 17 inch blades from Texas last week. Received them last night, and I will be installing them today.
I did some measurements, and it appears these will fit the windshield with no problem.
Trico shows 17 inch for both sides, but the passenger side would be close to rubbing on the top windshield molding that s why I opted for the 16 inch for the passenger side.
I will let everyone know how the fit is this evening, and it appears by Thursday A.M. I will be able to tell everyone how they work in snow. (I HATE SNOW!)
I also had the problem of snow and ice buildup in the blades that caused them to streak. One of the reasons for this (in my opinion) is that when in park, the wipers sit way too low on the windshield and get no benefit from the heat from the defroster. This is not unique to the H3, but many wipers, when in intermittent operation, do not park all the way down, thus getting a little heat. I'm hoping these winter blades will help.

Ok, 17" is too long for the passenger side. 16" fits perfect, as well as a 17" for the driver side. However, for some reason, the wiper on the passenger side streaks. I'll give it a day or two to see if it settles in.
Might be able to adjust the wiper position slightly, but looking at it, it sweeps almost all the way to the driver's a-pillar outside trim.
