Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
Hmm! Kind of sounds like somewhat of a good idea. Anyone know what an escalade weighs? Just wondering! I am too lazy to google it. I think that it would take a huge leap in technology to make a good performing hybrid H2. I would rather just see a diesel or even better yet a biodiesel. Turbo Diesel as well.

Let me re-post a reply to why there's no Hybrid H2, directly from CLAYDOG

To improve fuel economy, even with a hybrid drive, you also need to reduce weight, improve aero, and reduce rolling resistance. The Tahoe hybrid has had a lot of changes from the standard Tahoe (aluminum hood and hatch, narrower and harder compound tires, ect?) that are needed to make the Hybrid drive see gains big enough to notice.

Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
Yep, that is why we must of on H2 Turbo Diesel.
Could you imagine a factory diesel for around $70k. Sign me up for that one. You would be talking power and fuel economy, the best of both worlds.

Diesel H2
I'd like to see a diesel H2 myself, only thing is you can bet they will be 80K for a LUX model, not including the dealer markup that will surely come along with it once they come out.
I'd bet that with dealer markups, when they first rollout that prices might be 100K.
I know that sounds like a lot (and it is) but that's what the dealers were doing with the Z06 Corvettes and getting in most cases. I did ALOT of looking around when I bought the Z06 and was lucky to get one for MSRP back in May. All the other dealers in this area were marking up these cars 30K over sticker, and worse yet, getting it!

Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
I can't believe that car man. let them do that crap. That would be like Wal-Mart selling Playstation's last year for $1500. They didn't, they sold them for msrp. I can see if a civilian places an early order for msrp and then sells it for a profit. But that is not what a dealer should be allowed to do. Just me 2 cents. As far as a diesel, it would be great. I also think that you will see that within the next few years. I think that you would also see a 2wd mode installed because of the torque and power issues that would arise. Just my thoughts.

Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
wait, i though all h2's were just hybrid tahoes? hmmm.... that changes everthing now!
IT would never happen. A new-age desiel is the wise and logical solution. It's a rig for off roadin and non of the current hybrid powerplants will have enough grunt to get you through anything. GM is working on a revamped duramax which is the what the h2 will get, if they do a desiel H2.

Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
I agree that to even come close to meeting the tree huggers desires which we cannot do just simply because of the gross weight of the H2 and ability of an H2 to complete mission the H2 was designed for.
It would appear the best shot to improve situation is to have an extremely high HP/torque diesel engine with standard tranny 6 speed or auto tranny 6 speed with engine having the technology to shut down cylinders in pairs when low torgue situation is detected by computer as well as by thw speed of vehicle so computer reads say 55mph looks at torque load and shuts down cylinders to save fuel.
Who knows what will be the answer as the Gov. can just write variants to mandated regulations almost at whim (YEAH) if done for our side the H2 lovers of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
The engine and tranny are of course already being given serious looks as well as the gas burner models. The gas engine provides the chance for best publicly mentioned gains. It will be the gas burner setup that will provide the numbers needed to get the H2's into an improved light. The diesel setup will serve the off road gang most. Remember to use a late model air filter with a prefilter sock over it.

Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
I know i cant spell but i know whats up with the hybrid thing....
Once the public is told somthing, its much, much harder to disprove. This is basic psychology.
The US public has been edjucated that a "hybrid" is the best kind of car for the enviroment and economy. They have also been edjucated that diesel is Loud, Noisy and smelly....and makes no power. They think diesel is for big rig trucks.
The TDI (Diesel) jetta gets 50-60 mpg, has great power and does much less env damage than a prius. The majorty of the public doesnt know this and have been faulsly edjucated.....
Thats whats happening here why we see a hybrid full size SUV and not a diesel.

Re: Hybrid H2 on its way!!!
I know! What a joke. Imagine the possibilities of the diesel, more importantly a biodiesel. I have a 2.3 liter ranger that I bought for work. Since I drive about 800 miles a week. It saves me a bunch of bucks, imagine if I could get it in a turbo diesel setup like the little jetta. That would be cool.
