Lot of vehicles do that in my understanding. I have been in a variety of cars/trucks when the rear windows are open and the front are closed it feels like your ears are going to explode. I have zero idea what causes this....

I drove a Grand Cherokee with the back windows down and it sounded like I had a flat tire! When I test drove the H3, that's one thing I checked, some wind noise but not like the Jeep, wherein you wanted to kill the person in the back seat until the window was put up.

LOL!
First Hummer,
It's okay. It's the wind noise. It's also the same reason why the sunroof doesn't open up all the way via one-touch because it will unleash a bassy, "flat tire" sound. A friend of mine has a Sequoia and the sunroof is attrocious!
I wonder if those window guards (like someone else posted here yesterday) would help out?

What you are hearing is the 'noise' of low pressure area in the cab. You happen to sit in it. With the air flowing in/out and about behind you, you've created an air pocket. Some of that air pocket will 'blend' into the front passengers, but that a function of wind flow, air temps, interior space configuration, etc. blah, blah, blah. Air is like water, it flows least resistance. This is the sort of thing design engineers need to hear. They design the outside panels to flow easily through the air (less wind resistance), they design for the ac/vent system, they rarely design for side wind.
Think NASCAR has designed for such with vehicle speeds exceeding 200 mph. Imagine if the driver couldn't communicate to the pit through the radio in his helmet.....
