Default Picked up the 2008 Slate Blue Yesterday

Hey all,

Well christmas came a day late. As you know I was supposed to pick up the new "2" friday night, but it didnt get in from the other dealer in time. So picked it up yesterday.

Initial impressions are:

Interior is great, seats are comfy, fit and finish are magnitudes better than the prior interior, gone are the annoying interior squeaks. All the controls are in different places and will take some getting used to.

Exterior - well the roof racks and nerf bars arent factory anymore, dealer will have those in stock in a few days and will be installed. I've got to say even though I am 6'4" tall its a bear getting in and out of that thing without the nerf bars. Love the new rims, I think they got rid of the chrome due to the pitting issues that were common on the Lux rims before.

Driving - engine sounds great. Perhaps even a big more rumblier than before. I think the tranny shifts smoother. Mind you i've drove from the dealer to home which is about 15 miles as the crow flies. So no open road with it yet. Seems to me that the power is so much more than before. Pulling out from a stop it got up to 60 very quickly and i didnt even mash down on it. That 6 speed is going to get some getting used when down shifting. All in all the power train is sweet!

I'll get some pics today. Looks odd to me without the bars and roof racks though....just used to them from the other one.

Congrats! I just picked up my new 08' "2" a week ago. Your initial assessment is dead on...I agree that the interior is much better than before (which is why I didnt buy one until now) and the vehicle overall seems tighter (apparantly there are 1mm or less gap tolerances now). And, the new 6.2L w/6 speed is a pure joy to drive. So far, I am loving it and make excuses to drive it. Its my first H2 and I hope it lasts a long time.

I am the same way...its just such a cool machine. My dad busted my stones when he found out I bought one. Then he drove my 06 and it took him about 2 months and he was driving an 06 SUT..he loves it!
