Time for new tires and wheels
Ok. Big blue is fixing to get new shoes. Im going to do 37's or 8's on 18' I want to do a leveling kit and still fit em under it without a lift. I think I can still get it in the parking garage at work if I stay away from a lift. Black wheels undecided (advice) or some green ones like on the sema truck. I plan on getting the kevlar paint job done at starwood motors. Professionally done. Anyway time for new shocks as well. Wanting a tire similar to a duratrac. Low road noise but great grab. Duratracs dont go that big. Also want minimal offset. Want to keeo the tire under the truck as much as possible. Need new shocks. Want to keep the ride as plush as it is. Any advice to accomplish my desires? Thanks. Bubba

Re: Time for new tires and wheels
Do you do any offroading with it? Might seem silly, but you can go with BFG AT's up to 37, not sure if any bigger.
I'll be stepping up to the KM2's when we replace ours in a couple months and keeping the stock ride height.
As for shocks, if I had to replace 'em, I'd go back with the stock ones. Our truck rides great and I really don't feel like spending the money to experiment only to find out they ride like crap---i.e. when I went to Bilsteins on my H3 the ride was terribly harsh.
I did recently read a write-up on the forums somewhere that an h2 driver made contact with someone who knew shocks and recommended a set of Bilsteins which he claimed made it ride and handle even better.
Looking forward to what direction you go with all of this.

Re: Time for new tires and wheels
Thanks for the reply. No hardcore offroading. Just the deer lease. That is the reason for the kevlar paint. Too many scratches needing buffed. Thought about just selling and upgradibg to an 08 or 09. Mainly for the 6.2. Yeah the ride has no rival. I thought leveling it so the 37s fit with no issues.

Re: Time for new tires and wheels
Check out some of the figures/ciphering that I posted in this thread: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=43055
Most can get 37x12.5 under their truck with no rub by just cranking the torsion bars...that's going to make your ride harsh over bumps though. You'll prolly end up looking at leveling kits like Cognitos UCA kit...couple the UCA kit with some GM Green keys or the Truxxx keys and you'll have a leveled ride with a smooth factory ride.
As for shocks, the Cognito kit I got came with Bilstein front shocks. I had the rear shocks replaced with Bilstein as well...the ride is as good as, or better then, the stock ride. I feel like I have less body roll when cornering at speed then with the stock shocks.

-19mm may be needed if you've got tires wider than 12.5. pdxrealtor was looking to run 14" tires...so I calculated out that he'd prolly need a -19mm offset.
I run 37x12.5s on a rim with 0mm offset with the keys and kit and I have no rub.
EDIT: You mentioned that you didn't want them to stick out too much...so the 0mm offset will keep a bit more of the wheel under the truck then the -19s. I'll snap a pic of mine when I leave work to give you an idea of how far my wheels push out...it's a bit farther than stock; it actually should be about 35mm (1.375") more than stock.
