Service VME - Frame Protective Wax Peeling - aftermarket appearance excessive information part rust VME #PI01021 - (04/17/2003)
Service VME- Frame Protective Wax Peeling
.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME
Field product reports received from HUMMER Dealers indicate that the protective wax coating on the frame side rails is peeling on some vehicles. Investigation indicates that excessive thickness of the protective material, particularly in the areas of the body mounts contributes to this condition. If you encounter this, remove any loose material and reapply the coating using NOX Rust X-121 Black wax Aerosol. Refer to Bulletin Number 01-08-51-003 for additional detailed procedures. To obtain the recommended sealant for the repair the contact telephone number is (800) 742-0966 ext. 21 and the part number is 178660.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
