Default Product Review: Optimum No Rinse & Shine

Optimum No Rinse & Shine

You don't need a hose and can wash inside an air conditioned garage! Put 1oz in 2 gal of water, 1-2 passes on a panel, dry a panel, done. I just washed my truck inside the garage and only got 8 drops of water on the floor. It took about the same amount of time to do as the Mr. Clean Autodry system, which is 1.5 hours, but it was my first time and my truck was very dirty. I see it being quicker in the future. No more having to be outside to wash your vehicle. Plus it doesn't just clean... it gives the surface that just waxed or just clay bar'd smoothness. Mmm... mmm.

Available at a lot of places, but http://www.autogeek.net has an H2 in their pictures, so best to get it there.

Yes, is very good.

Sounds like some scary science fiction movie where people don't like to be outside anymore (sort of like "Logan's Run," "When Dinosours Ruled the Earth," or "Soylent Green") because they might die from terradactyls or increasing social disorder, overpopulation, and giant front-end loaders scooping up poeple outside to make soy products.

I'll just risk it and go outside and get some sun.

No! It's not a requirement that you wash it inside! But it is nice to be able to do when it's like 140 degrees or -20 degrees... or it's raining, snowing, etc. Or even if you have a late night urge to wash your truck.

Yeah, I can see your point, it has been hot as hell here the last few days. Also, me working nights, I'd love to use some of my awake time when at home in the middle of the night to get out and wash the rig. On a side note, I recently bought this squeegy thingy that you use to just wipe water right off. I'll try and find it online...its made by the same retards that made the California Duster....however this really works.

There isn't too much drying to be done with ONR. I just blot the excess water with a waffle weave mf and the rest dries by itself within about 15 seconds.

But I read something about those things for removing rain water right away before it leaves marks. Do you use it for that purpose or just for regular washes?

For Me:

Craftsman Power Washer w/Soap, and Soft Towel Dry...

I also use this spray shine stuff (don't remember the name) but it's like a very thin spray wax... it gives the paint a glossy look and smooth feel.

Washing the truck is part of the weekend tradition...

SO, how does this stuff work when you have bugs, mud, or anything else on the paint. YOu would scratch the hell out of your finish when you wipe it off? Are my missing something here?

I prefere to us CO HUMMERS butler. He does a great job and even brings mints and chocolates.

Well, obviously you wouldn't use it with 2" of caked on mud before knocking it off. But bugs, dirt, dust and all that stuff that comes with daily driving and certain off-road driving comes off just fine without any marring. And if you didn't have bugs, mud or anything else on the paint... it would be clean and you wouldn't need to use this or anything.

I'm a bit obsessive about my paint, so I checked with a lot of detailers before trying it and a lot of them use it for all the vehicles they work on, especially mobile detailers. I also checked out the paint of another black vehicle that has used ONR since day one, ~once a week, and there is no marring. After washing mine, I checked as well and found no scratches/marring/etc and I hadn't washed mine in a almost 2 months.
