Clunky noises = H3 is in the shop... F*@k!
Well, we went out yesterday and decided to tackle a place that we nailed the previous outing - well, the H3's nailed it the rest didn't.
Anyway... bit of a rock step climb preceded by a load of soft sand, 80% of the way up sounded like a machine gun went off underneath ... so backed off, and gently ran forward on some level ground - nasty clicking thumping noise coming from the left front
Couldn't see any leakage etc anywhere, but the noise got slightly worse so - called HUMMER Assistance and it went off to the dealer on a truck
Waiting for the dealer to get back to me today with the diagnosis
At a guess - best case, the left halfshaft has bitten the dust... worse case, the diff has binned it!
Cheers
JFF

Re: Clunky noises = H3 is in the shop... F*@k!
Thanks guys... okay, the latest is the front diff mount broke, which then (I guess) resulted in some undue pressure etc on the transfer case
Just spoke with them and they've opened up the t-case and it needs two new pinions and something else (couldn't quite hear what he said!)... sooo, should have it back Wednesday afternoon / Thursday morning... which is great as we have a trip on Saturday with our little club
I did point out that this is warranty repairs, and thus far they said "of course" so fingers crossed they don't change their mind!!!
Cheers

Re: Clunky noises = H3 is in the shop... F*@k!
Hi JFF, sorry to hear about your "clunky noises" and sounds like your dealership is pretty good like the one we have over here. Liberty AD has usually bent over backwards with Warranty repairs on mine several times making sure its ready before Thursday night. On the diff mount, I seem to tear one up between every service, but save for a bit of a driveline thump when you back off or apply the gas that was about it so its probably not the same thing.
Anyhow, now looking at a new '07 as I have just had confirmation from Liberty that mine is a write off after its 140kmh encounter with a crash barrier about a week back Just a shame you can't get the Shadow Green any more on the 07's.

Ouch! glad to hear you're okay.... shame about the truck mind you - wouldn't be anything to do with some friends across teh causeway that contributed would it?!... For the diff mount, I have a sneaky suspicion it went a while back now that you mention the driveline thump
The dealer has been great - and that's not normally the case in this part of the world - they know I have trip coming up Saturday, so it's all hands on deck to get it ready
Cheers

Re: Clunky noises = H3 is in the shop... F*@k!
So spoke to the dealer this morning - transfer case all buttoned up, they tested it and lo and behold still noises ... car needs a new front diff assembly and surprise, they do not have any in stock in the Middle East
They have to order it from the US and reckon it'll take around 10-15 days to get here and then around 1-2 days to fit it!!! ... I suppose the good thing is it'll have the stronger bits in the new diff
Not happy!

Re: Clunky noises = H3 is in the shop... HELP REQUIRED from GM People!!!!!!
Okay folks - my H3 is still lying ina workshop with nothing happening
The dealer have been great but apparently it's a GM issue that there are no front diff assemblies in place in the Middle East - this has been two weeks it's been in the shop, with what looks like another 2 weeks to go which is bloody ridiculous
Does anyone here have a contact I can mail in the US to vent my frustration and see if we can get moving (worth a shot I reckon!) ... F5???
VIN is 5GTDN136268129028 - just in case there are any sympathetic GM people out there!!
Cheers
