BTW, with 16.5" rims, you will need a bead lock. Hey don't have the safety lip that regular sized rims have.
I also have a source for 2" billet adapters also. I paid $200 including shipping. Included lug nuts also.
Just since yesterday, I got a lot of 'thumbs up'. Even from other H2 owners, and those dudes NEVER wave at each other up here.

Why do you say I NEED beadlocks, don't get me wrong that's what I would prefer but there are two drawbacks to me

Weight quite obviously
Complication of a beadlock, albiet that equates to keeping 24x4 bolts tight and whatever else is involved

Have you ever (in the tire bussiness) put some on non beadlocks?

This is kinda where I'm leaning

You don't 'need' them. But if using a 16.5 wheel you will. As I mentioned earlier, they lack a safety lip that other common sizes have. Any sort of sway or body roll could pop your seal and leave you stranded.

If going with the HMMWV style 24 bolt wheels, they are a 2 piece wheel and the bead lock is an integral part of the wheel. It doesn't weigh that much in comparison to the rest of the hardware. It's just a piece of 1/4" steel w/ a bunch of holes drilled in it.
Hope this helps some & I didn't 'muddy the water' so to speak.

I'm confused the youtube link had the 16.5s on non beadlocks just plain rims

EDIT: I think your assuming I was all for using the rims like you have, but I was refering to just plain steel rims from any ole truck with a 16.5 size

I just watched that you tube video. He's running the Military MT tires & some aftermarket rims. Everyday driving you'll most likely not ever need a bead lock. I don't know a lot in the off road wheel aspects, I mainly did street rods & 20's to 28" rims. You can buy just the tires pretty cheap & use your own rims, but at the package price I got, I opted for full military set up.
But I do know that about the safety lip is true. I've been to a seminar at SEMA in Vegas where this was one of the topics. I side on 'better safe than sorry'. Plus it looks like a freakin tank sitting in the driveway with them on.

Alright now I gotcha

I think I'll go with the military anyways, they have a pretty nice setup

EDIT: Assuming shipping isn't $300

Correct. I thought you were using the HMMWV rims instead of aftermarket. My bad. Oops!
You should be fine w/o bead locks for normal driving. But take it easy if you go off roading or climb massive snow piles in WalMart parking lots like I do.

Dustin charged me $120 for a pallet of 5 rims from WI to St. Louis. Took 2 days to ship, plus I could use Paypal where I get 1.5% cash back AND piece of mind for buyer protection.

That ain't too bad for shipping, I'm gonna wait a month a two before I pull the trigger but this is definately likely.

It's not a very good pic, but it gives you an idea on what they look like on an H2.

Here's my thinking, I've been looking around and can't find much in regards to other tires in the same size. That being said it seems the only decently priced tire for these rims would be the military surplus stuff. However what happens when these start to dwindle??

Any thoughts on finding tires in the long term?
