Default footroom on the gas pedal

I was thinking about the complaints over footroom on the gas pedal, so I went out and measured about 5 1/2" from the brake to the sidewall on my 5-spd.

Is that the same as on the automatics?

Yes, it is right around 5 1/2 inches. Never had a problem with it either, plently of room for my boots.

The arm angle that the pedals are attached to is the culprit from what I've seen.
The Auto trans and the Standard, have the same angle for the brake pedal arm. The auto, brake pedal is just slightly larger in surface area.

From your pick above, this provides an understanding as to why. It is cheaper to use the same arm on the Auto as it is on the Standard. Seems that the Factory just adds two identical arms for the standard and uses the single for the Auto.

The angles appear to be designed to allow the Clutch and Brake to exist in that space. It would be more expensive to design a seperate arm for use in the auto trans model.

My .02 is that it couldn't be that expensive.
FWIW.

We have less between the gas and brake pedal on ours. It's closer to 3". Also the gas pedal is within 2.5" fron touching that side wall.

The other H3 we sold, had more room in comaparison to both measurements.

You're right that the auto brake has more surface area. I measured from the edge of the brake pedal to the sidewall and came up with about 5 1/2 inches.
