I had my front windows tinted a few weeks ago, and am unhappy with the color difference from the factory tint. The factory tint seems to have a "brown" base, while the aftermarket is somewhat more "gray". They are the same intensity, and thankfully, from outside, you cannot really tell the difference. However, inside, you can see the variation.
Has anyone had any luck with tinting... if so, what? I even thought about ordering replacement back windows to put in the front two doors... would that work???

They probably used a tint that has metal in it. That give it a glazed look.
I tinted many of my own cars/trucks, but I doubt I will even bother with this one. In VT you get your ass handed to you when you have front windows tinted. Plus it is a pain in the trails I think.
And the window idea, I would crap myself if that worked. chances are they are totally different glass.

I had mine done and they are very close, but I can see a difference in some lighting. I think it is Llumar film.
I gotta have tint so people don't see me picking, giving hand signals, etc.

I tinted my front windows to match my back and i feel it came out very well. The shade and color match up pretty good.
This might sound elementary but from inside your front windows will look differnt from your back windows as they have tint film and the back has tinted glass.

I took the same grade tint(32%) and had it applied to ALL the windows(except the windshield). It darkens the backs so you can't see in and shades the 2 fronts enough to keep the heat out, but not attract the LEOs.

Thanks for the info... my '03 was tinted when I purchased it (used, obviously), and I don't recall it looking different from front to rear passenger windows. Hopefully, I am just overanalyzing this!
After looking at my paperwork, they used 30% Llumar tint on mine... oh well, lesson learned here! (Drive to Tennessee to have the same company that did the first H2 do it next time! )

Limo tint on all side windows. Backs are very dark,as I wanted them. Fronts are nice and dark. I will take the ticket.

Somehow some crap got passed by the legislature here that you have to pass a state inspection for your tint. The state gave out old tint shade cards for the tint shops to go by in the past but it seems now that the cards were wrong. The new law utilizes a digital reader and if you have legal tint before this new law but the new reader says you don't, you will have to rip your tint out now before you can get an inspection sticker. Of course the cost of the inspection went up $10 to cover this cost.
Stupid laws that encroach the law abiding citizen under the guise of protecting the police officer. Instead of this law, they should create a law to make it mandantory to role your windows down and turn on your interior light at road blocks or anytime you are approached by an LEO.

Same way here. It's good to know someone that owns a shop. You could also try rolling the windows down when you pull into the shop. That usually works too.

I have a waiver. When the law first passed it also included all LEOs and canine units because it gave no exclusions and no waiver provisions for them. It was just something hastily done with no research or thought given to it.

They don't seem to care about it around here. That or they only hassle the people who look like trouble.
