washing-not degreasing-engine, undercarriage

reading the thread pools2do started about reduced engine power after degreasing his engine has got me a little spooked what with sensors and all.
after off roading yesterday, i'd like to use a small power washer on the engine, undercarriage, etc. i know it's not the same as degreasing, but...is that a problem?
also, is there any nooks and crannies where mud/powder likes to hide? any critical areas that need attention?

If you are going to do it yourself, set the nozzle so you are not shooting a jet when you are washing under the hood.

Having someone else doing it with high pressure is asking for trouble. Engine degreaser is not the problem, it's the high pressure forcing water into protected components.

Have it done by your dealer's prep department. That way they have to fix it when they screw it up.

Powerwash the hell out of it--we do all the time--just be smart about sensor connections. Take your time and stay away from the obvious--like who would pressure wash the fuse box?????

Get one of those fan type oscillating sprinklers. Attach the hose, place under your vehicle, turn it on, and leave it for 20 minutes.

Use a gentle stream from the water hose afterwards to remove any leftover mud.

Repeat on any other bits that couldn't be reached in the first attempt.

Keep an eye on your evap. canister located under the drivers side frame. I've had mine get clogged several times, causing the check engine light come on.
The mechanic removed the evap canister cleaned it out, and the engine light reset itself. It was recommended that a cover be made to protect it from direct contact of mud.
It was also recommended that the area of the canister be pressure washed after doing any kind of mudding to clean out the area that may clogg the canister!
