I took my H2 into the dealer yesterday to fix this annoying clunk I get almost every time I start moving from a dead stop. It happens about 2 seconds or so after I stop moving. The harder I stop, the harder it clunks when I start up.
Now for the load of crap. They told me that they verified there is a clunk and GM acknowledges there is a clunk but has no fix for it at this time. WTF?? They just said it won't harm the vehicle to drive it like that. Well thanks for nothing!

Thats wrong! I had the same clunk with my H2. It Only happened right when you take off from a stop. The noise you here is the drive shaft yoke knocking and binding with the tail housings main shaft. The problem is excessive drive shaft yoke lash against the spline. Most Hummer H2s do this but most owners don't notice. My dealer Replaced the Drive shaft and front yoke with a new updated longer one from GM. They also replaced the rear tail housing of the transfer case to get a updated seal installed for the new drive shaft yoke. DOn't take no for an answer, throw it back in there face and make them fix it! BIG-C

Amen to Circuitguy's comments. Call or write Hummer if you can't get dealer to help. This kind of knock should not be accepted as status quo.
Tell 'em you want a different H2. Mine has never exhibited any noticeable knock.

I agree... what I cant understand is why the dealers give such a hard time about this ****... what do they have to gain for not doing the work.. dont they get paid for it anyway... I was having a mirror locking problem when they would unfold... I was told that it is an acknowledged problem, but there was not fix for it.. so just deal with it and wait... for what??? unitl my warranty runs out...
the problem that you have is not isolated... there is a known problem with the driveshaft yoke being to short.. i am sure someone here can get the info about this fix... It is listed clunking, tranny slip, shifting into reverse and car not in gear.. what ever the symptoms are... complain about them to get it fixed.. unaslob

Thank you for the help guys. To Circuitguy, do you know if there was a TSB on the problem or what the part numbers were to the replacement parts?
