My brother calls me to ask for assistance unstucking his wife's Jeep Liberty. Ok, no prob...on my way. I get there and pull around to the front of the Jeep. he asks is i can pull the back instead....Ok. I drive around the Jeep to the back and I feel the wheels spin faster as the speed drops. I try to find hard ground but to no avail...I'm in. I call my buddies wrecker service and he sends out one of his guys..in a medium duty truck. Th wrecker driver walks the dirt and we find a dry(er) patch for him to pull from. He drives in and pulls in front of the Jeep, about 25 feet away. Break out the cables and look for a hook-up to the Jeep...nothing....not even a d-ring. Wrecker driver J-hooks the A arm of the Jeep and uses the boom to pull. Why? He is also stuck. The Jeep emerges from the bog and pulls around to the harder land in front of the wrecker. Next up: Kong. I take my tow strap and hook it to the wreckers tow line. Wrecker guy plants the T-bar into the dirt so the truck stays put as he pulls Kong out. I put it in "N" and let the wrecker pull...as it is pulling out Kong, the wrecker is plowing the dirt coming back towards me. I get unstuck and pull in front to the wrecker. We check the holes we made. Jeep was stuck unibody deep. You could see the fuel tank/rearend/unibody imprints in the mud. Tires were in 10 inches. Go check Kongs prints...tires were in 18 inches(!) and still had 6 inches of frame clearance. Only imprints were the ball joints and a-arms. Walk back to the trucks, tie the wrecker to Kong and pull him to saftey. Driver charges us only 100 bux...cool guy.

Maybe...just maybe, if I had tires with any appreciable tread depth, I might not have gotten stuck...or had my Jeep owning brother had told me it was a bog out there..I might not have gotten stuck.

FWIW, his/her Jeep has NO hook locations for towing...no rings, hitch..not even rear bumper struts..damn.

Manns Tire and Wheel, here I come.....
