BIGT is off the scale
Default Front end noise

I have had my 2006 H2 back to the dealer twice now for front end noise. I get a binding in the left front when turning left. Also, a loud clunk/clank when I have it in four hi lock when turning left. I also get a slight vibration in the floor at highway speeds under my feet. I have around 25,000 miles on it. This is my second H2, so I have put around 90,000 miles on an H2 between the two, so I know when something is not right. To me, it feels like a CV joint. I even road two mechanics around the lot so they could hear it.

Anyway, they say it is the actuator. I think their nuts. I'm taking it back this week for the repair. I think i will tell them they can change it, but it will be back...

Any thoughts on my problem?

Tony

HUMTECH is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Front end noise

Without actually hearing the noise its a little tough, but have seen many range shift forks break causing similar issues. When the fork is broken or excessivly worn due to the plastic fork tips falling off the transfer case wont complete its shift. Almost sounds like it may be stating partially engaged into 4hi lock when its supposed to be in awd mode. But if its only on a left turn its unlikely but may be worth mentioning. By actuator do they mean encoder motor on the t-case? cause the h-2 does not have a front diff actuator as it is all wheel drive and the the front diff is always engaged.

Humtech,
Thanks for the response.

My work order states they ordered the Actuator. 46 CPC. Code was 26388 which states transfer case will not shift at times. This is not the problem as I see it. Even when I back up and cut the wheel hard to the left, it feels and sounds like it's grinding or binding in the front left when in regular 4 wheel mode. It really feels and sounds like something in the front drive train. I will mention the forks when I bring it in this week.
