SERVICE VME
If a creak-type sound is detected upon closing the center console lid, the cause is within the release button mechanism. The correction is to lubricate the button release mechanism from the underside primarily along the two slider ribs using Superlube Multi-purpose Lubricant part number 12346241. It is important to use only this plastic friendly lubricant which is a GM Vehicle Care Product readily available through GM Service Parts Operations.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
