Hummer spare tire cover problem ...

I just bought a tire cover for the spare on the back gate for my '08 at Towbin in LV. It's the black cover that says Hummer H2 on it, with the cut out for the license plate in the center. But, when I took off the black plate holder that came with the Hummer and replaced it with the hard plastic cover, the light doesn't show through onto the plate! Comparing the cover opening to the plate holder that came with it, I see there is a solid piece of plastic blocking the light .. whereas on the original plate holder, the plastic is sort of carved out. Does anyone here have the cover I have? And, if so, how did you get the light to illuminate the license plate?? This cover is hard plastic with the opening for the plate .. and sort of an elastic backing that wraps around the tire. Am I doing something wrong? Am I going to have to have someone cut out the piece of plastic blocking the light? Help!

Never mind .... I figured it out under the morning sun this morning (I was putting it on at dusk last night. Now it's perfect.
