Default Custom bumpers to accommodate lower lights?

Just thought I'd throw this out there, since I'm finding nada on my end.

I'm looking for sources, or even pictures, of ways folks have modified their front bumpers to accommodate lower headlights. With the new lift, I'm likely going to be over recommended height (54" for TX) and will need a new setup. I haven't found any true headlights that will fit in the DRL spot so I'm looking for an alternative solution.

^far beyond the reach of most but BA!

What you're going to find is pretty much all the aftermarket bumpers available will have cutouts for the smaller DRL's as that is how the truck is setup stock. You could try replacing them with some offroad lights like PIAA's which I'm sure would be plently bright but I don't know if they would pass as actual regular driving lights as far as the law is concerned.

Yeah, I was afraid it might have to be a custom fab job.

TX law requires regular headlights in addition to brights. I don't think the PIAAs will work.

I saw in a previous post of yours that you were having problems finding something that would fit in the DRL slot, as this might be an option for you.

Look into this :

Delta sells a fog light kit, and an HID fog light kit, that fits right into the DRL slots. The main point is they're fluted (sp??) lenses. They also have a driving light lens which may or may not work for you.

I have 3200k HID bulbs in my Delta fog lenses. I can drive down the darkest roads without headlights, just using the Delta lens with HID bulbs. All you'd have to do is put in a 5400-600k HID bulb.

My install was a little more involved because I bought the NON HID Delta lens as it was much cheaper. I had to a little modification to the lens housing for the HID bulb to fit, but no modification is needed to pop these in the DRL slot.

It wouldn't be hard to wire up the headlight power to the lower lens location, giving you your brights.

Go a step further and you could, maybe without modification, add HID or normal fogs to the headlight location and aim them insanely down. Adding an interior switch to turn them on and off.

Thank you SO much for the recommendations. I'm stopping at a customs shop next week and will bring them this info. You just saved me a ton of money.

Well, I have to actually have the truck in possession in order to bring it to the body shop.

The truck is at least back together and driveable (hallalujah!). They drove it over to an alignment shop on Wednesday afternoon (alignment, balance, and having the tires trued). I have no idea how long that will take, the shop is the only one in the region that does truing, so I don't know their backlog. Regardless....hoping to have it sometime next week maybe? I printed out your recommendations and will bring it with me to the body shop.

Congrats on getting the truck on the road again! Let us know how it turns out....
