you'll find dozens that are good,cheap, fit, and work just great. Some look OEM or better.

Read some other posts hear. I think f5fstop was saying it can be difficult to get to work correctly. The rear tire hanging over makes the sensor do wierd stuff.

First time I heard of this problem, and come to think of it the four units I've done there was no spare tire involved.

Still, I'd try it. You could always tape the sensor in place to test it before drilling the bumper.

I'm wondering, why would anyone install sensors, when for very little more than that you can have an actual back up camera? I installed a new rear view mirror with a built in 5" screen, and a camera in the back for about 800, and its much more prestigious and effective than plain old sensors. In fact, if your backing up, sensors could easily miss things that are too high or low, it could even miss a child for example.

Maybe its just me, but I just feel a lot more confortable when I can SEE behind me not just listen for a beep. Also, my tv has built in speakers and the yellow, white and red cables come out from under the drivers seat and can be attached to a DVD player or video game system.

What do you guys think?

I might be paranoid, but a few years ago I was riding with my mom driving and she backed up and hit an old lady pedestrian who sued her insurance for 900k+, so spending 800 on a back up camera isn't too bad compared to that haha.

Do you have pics of the rear view mirror from the inside? does it obstruct your view out the windshield?

let me know if you run into any problems with the spare tire? i was working with a company that manufactured these, and sent exact measurements of the bumper, overhang of the spare, etc;, along with a massive number of digital photos. from their calculations, the spare tire would cause the sensor to detect, in the locations they would suggest. (the have sensors that are mounted in the bumper, tape on sensors and sensors that would hang down mounted to a bracket.)
i had already figured out where to mount in the rear door the LED array that could be seen in the rearview mirror while backing up.
however, this is one sensor manufacturer, and other sensors might work differently. i am still interested in sensors. any information will be greatly appreciated.

as for cameras, i should be my neighbor to jump on the board and tell his history with a camera on an h2. the camera screen (at least for him) was so distracting, while backing up he forgot to check in front right fender, and tore up the top of a rear quarter panel on a vehicle. (honestly, i didn't laugh too much.)

I had an Isuzu Factory Backup Cam on an old Isuzu Vehicross. I was so taken in by the technology that I'd find myself looking at the girl behind me at a stoplight and miss the light. When it comes to backwards visibility that was the worst SUV ever made, but a good performer if you could take the bone jarring ride. I learned to park defensively and always park so I could pull forward, although at shopping centers, some people would pull up to the back bumper and make opening the rear door impossible. I like the professional look of your installation!

There is a big difference in cost between a camera setup and sensors setup. Sure a camera can be better but it could also miss things that say a 4 sensor unit could pickup. Did you actually say that you prefer the camera setup for the "prestige" of it.

We have had a problem with these as well. Not only from the spare tire but also from the License plate once you bolt it on. A lot of times they were tested and designed with no plate on and then when you put the plate on it hangs down into the sensor area. The spare tire is also a problem. We have had to switch a couple out to camera's instead.

By the way, it has a remote control also.

If you look between my pipes, you can see the camera.

Also, as far as affecting my view is concerned, the mirror is always adjusted all the way up where its is practically touching the ceiling, and no my view is not blocked or affected at all whatsoever.
