Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
If you take the BAILOUT BILL at the front end its a CHIT-ASP Bill...Its rewarding the ASP-HOLES who screwed up, BIG BANKERS, BIG POLITAGO'S, BIG INVESTMENT HOUSES, BIG MORTGAGE BROKERS, ETC, ETC, ETC.....greedie bastards !!!
BUT
What will happen if we don't...I personally don't know. My CRYSTAL BALLS are out in the HUMMER. No one knows for sure what will happen. There is lots of speculation...What happens to those that already lost their homes, what happens to those that already bought foreclosed properties, or those whoes business has already closed because of this, or there employees who are having cars reposessed, homes reposessed, have committed suicide, etc etc...
I feel that if no BAIL-OUT is done in some manner (maybe not this week) (I see they have already added pork to it) there is a large chance of another DEPRESSION.
Those that have lots will be OK, those that have some will survive altho it will hurt them... those that live week to week, hand to mouth, no savings...in other words the WORKING POOR will drown...
Then the democrats can SPEND SPEND SPEND getting us closer to socialism...
YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER---since after Adam & Eve there has always been the HAVE & HAVE NOTS...Even the COMMIES had the HAVES (the upper crust of the party)
Will your children, or childrens children be marched out of the cities to work the farms or work in other areas like happened in Viet Nam after the North took over...! (don't laugh)
Ask yourself...DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH WEALTH TO SURVIVE A DEPRESSION ?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
Despite it being a rather sloppy reform its gonna go through either way, and I hope it works. Gov owned banks are the antithesis of the free world. This sums up my thoughts.

Mark my words...don't make any big purchases unless its to get away from the cities into rural areas...I'm not sure even if McCain wins that this country will ever be the same again ...We're looking at a continued recession, a possible depression, more leaning towards socialism, if Obama wins more attacks on U.S.A. soil...
National Security is at risk because of a STUPID CONGRESS..ben Ladin is sitting in a easy chair in an air conditioned cave laughing, Chavez, Putin and the little nazi in Iran are planning...its possible in the next 4 years and 2 months that Israeli Fingers will be much closer to "THE BUTTONS"
Anyone want to start a survival thread !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
If you think this bill sucks - You need to send a message in November and vote out every incumbent. Democrat or Republican, it's the only way to get these guys to wake up. They are about to put this country in serious harm. We are so far beyond our eyeballs in debt already and this plan is not at all well developed. They have not taken any testimony from any of the many leading economists that we have in this country to think this through. They are just going to let Paulson take care of his boys, pay for the homes of those who can't afford them with the money of those who save and spend wisely and there children, prop up the already inflated price of real estate so that we can have an even larger problem later. God only knows what kind of ridiculous pork is getting thrown into a bill that is supposedly addressing an emergency. They don't seem interested in doing this right, they just want to get something out there and either go home or start campaigning. Interestingly those reps that are not seeking re-election have mostly voted against this. Frankly I think spending ourselves silly is a far bigger threat than terrorism at this point. Firstly what happens when we can no longer fund all our anti terrorism activities? Secondly our policies are already being influenced by countries who hold enough of our debt to sink us economically. How many US banks do you think China could short to death if they wanted to?
Let's do something for ourselves in November and wake these f@#kers up!!!

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
We are scewed either way. Like I have said in the past the US is no longer the US. Country is in the $hitter and spiraling out of control. We still are the most powerful contry but we are being ran by a bunch of priveledged a$$hats who care less about you or I than we care about them. Vote them out???? Would be nice. I propose we look at just overthrowing the whole government.
Drty.........can you assist with this plan
What pisses me off most is that NO ONE....big business owners which have collapsed or those who were supposed to be monitoring them are held accountable. NO ACCOUNTABILITY IN ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS!!!!! How in the hell do 100+ year old businesses go bankrupt?????

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
From politico.com:
Quote:
With each permutation, the bill has steadily grown in size. Treasury?s initial plan was about three pages long. The House version, which failed, stretched to 110. The Senate substitute now runs over 450 pages. And tucked away in the tax provisions is a landmark health care provision demanding that insurance companies provide coverage for mental health treatment?such as hospitalization?on parity with physical illnesses.
|
This is going to lead to nationalized health care.
New Tax earmarks in Bailout bill
- Film and Television Productions (Sec. 502)
- Wooden Arrows designed for use by children (Sec. 503)
- 6 page package of earmarks for litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez incident, Alaska (Sec. 504)
Tax earmark ?extenders? in the bailout bill.
- Virgin Island and Puerto Rican Rum (Section 308)
- American Samoa (Sec. 309)
- Mine Rescue Teams (Sec. 310)
- Mine Safety Equipment (Sec. 311)
- Domestic Production Activities in Puerto Rico (Sec. 312)
- Indian Tribes (Sec. 314, 315)
- Railroads (Sec. 316)
- Auto Racing Tracks (317)
- District of Columbia (Sec. 322)
- Wool Research (Sec. 325)

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
For all the money we'll be paying for this stupid bill they ought to through in national healthcare. This big blunder really makes that seem small in comparison. They should also give each of us a coupon for 25 gallons of gas too.
As for as all the stuffing they're throwing into this........
I hope they all get what they deserve, unemployment.

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
The bailout bill stinks, but according to The Economist (before pork) the bill costs us 6 % of GDP. Without it, they estimate a loss of at least 16% GDP. I guess time will ultimately tell.....

That's only if the money is put back into the economy as they home.
A similar bill was passed in Europe and gues what the banks did, they kept the money to shore up themselves. They didn't lend it.

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
The LAST thing you want is nationalized health care if you give a damn about the standard of care you receive. Just ask anyone in Canada how long they wait for an MRI.
While I understand the consequences if the financial industry isn't propped up, I'd feel a hell of a lot better if those bastards hadn't spent 500K at the resort & spa for their executive retreat last week.
There seems to be no limit to their spending and bonus & severance packages even in the face of financial disaster. It's nothing short of stealing from the taxpayers.

Re: Your Thoughts on the Bailout Bill
and if you add the North American Union (or whatever they are calling it) between the U.S.A., Mexico & Canada...
It goes back to the time right after Adam & Eve. At that point there were the haves and the have nots. Assuming you did not rob, kill, steal, rape etc but worked hard (you family as well) and someone elses family did not, why should you have to give up your profits to support deadbeats. I will support the view of charity in the overall religious view (Judaio/Christian) and that a free form of government like democracy needs to help the unfortunate, not the deadbeat.
If you look at socialism, communism, totalitarism even they have the structure of the have and have nots. The leaders HAVE and the rest don't...
If Obama wins there is a high chance it will be the BEGINNING OF THE END...!!!
