I need a few tips on removing the plastic surround (with the air vents) around radio/ac, etc. I need to get access to the wiring for hooking up my handsfree phone.
Also, I want utilize the existing microphone in the roof console (wires are dark green, light green with stripe)...anybody done this? Do the wires go to on star unit in the console?
For the surround, I plan on removing the two socket head screws, and pulling it forward from the top...assuming this thing snaps in. I am hoping I don't have to remove the center console.
Thanks for help!
Pewter, tire carrier on order!

Well unfortunatly there are 2 screws hidden under the center console so it has to come out.

Yes, I figured that out. I've got to say this was one of biggest pains in the as$, I've worked on in a while.
I used to install car stereos, and I gotta say this layout sucks for swapping radios etc.
Also, while there is quite a few fastening points, the interior plastic is a bit on the cheap side.
Anyhow, there are 5 screws securing the console down; remove those and move the console back, and hope you have enough room to pop off the radio surround.
On the radio, what is +12V switched (acc) power wire? It looks to me like the grey.
Thanks!

I took my switched power under the drivers dash area as I hooked up my escort at the same time. I just needed to install an Fm Mod for my dvd player. Those are also the longest allen head screws I have ever removed by hand.
